Dear Color Breeders,

ODD COLOURS (by Catch A Bird)...is it posible to keep alive her color on this side of the atlantic? Any serious effort have been made?

...this side of the Atlantic means, primarily, the US.

By the way to see the photos of these authentic roan Thoroughbreds, the only ones, logon to:

Hi Jorge,
I have a question.. aren't the bend or spots just plain old Liver spots on a liver chesnut? every liver chesnut I have had has had them, on my concerto gelding they seem to move around. ?? not sure.

Bend Or spots can turn up on any color horse.

I agree with Nessa.

Wow that picture of ODD COLOURS trumpets her as a genuine bona fide roan (Ro). This case (color) should be preserved within the Thoroughbred Breed.

Hope our coat color breeders here may want to join the discussion.

Blessings,

Odd Colours

Unfortunately Odd Colours has disapeared. The breeder, I believe, sold her to Queensland to breed 1/4 horses! :o

btw - The photos on that website are mine.

There seem to be other roan offspring of Catch a Bird.

Goldhill Park who is still listed as a horse, not gelding
Odd Colours
Red Noble out of Western Gateway
Slip Catch

There used to be links to photos of the other roan foals, but they aren't working right now.

If Goldhill Park is still around, he's the best bet to continue the line, and see if the color breeds true.

Is the skunk tail a sign of a Rabicano, or can other colors have them as well? We had a filly with a skunk tail in KY.

The skunk tail is the most obvious sign I know of for rabicano.

I can contact the breeder here in Western Australia and find out what happened to Goldhill Park and Red Noble. Slip Catch has a couple of foals but I haven't heard that she has thrown the colour.

We had Odd Colours in training so I will see what we have in the snapshot archives. We did have a black & white one that was published in our local newspaper when she first went into work.
