Future great broodmare sires

I've been studying for some time searching for good prospects to become great broodmare sires in the near future. I see Red Ransom is being quite effective and is actually already in the leading broodmare sire list. Another candidate, which I even like more is Mr. Greeley. Dams by this one are producing winners of good raing class, and he alreday proved himself being the broodmare sire of Closing Argument. I think Mr. Greeley will eventually become very successful in this area and is very commercial because of the precocity he tends to pass. He's also getting even more opportunities as a stallion which eventually will make him one of the great broodmare sires in the future.

Any opinions about these two stallions?

While I agree that Red Ransom daughters should be picked up, im not as excited about Mr. Greeley. He has everyone reason to producers daughters that can throw stakes winners since he's seen many a good family but there's nothing I see thats over powering as a bms. Take Closing Argument away and how does he stack up?

When your trying to find top BMS your best bet is to let the BMS sort themselves out.

When you see a positive trend developing your will breed to that positive breeding pattern.

It is best to breed to patterns that have worked in the past, as you will try to reproduced those individuals that were superior runners.

When you see crosses that havent nicked breed away from those crosses and you will be on the road to success.

It is very common for stallions in the broodmare sire position to start out very, very, very poorly at first, especially if they are well bred. Check out Danzig, Dixieland Band, etc., and you'll see that the first daughters of theirs produced very little despite being give great opportunity.

However, over time, the use of crosses that have worked in the past often causes a complete reversal of fortune.

Some, however, never do make a comeback such as Star de Naskra, Wild Again, etc., though an individual daughter make be a very good producer.

Red Ransom is still off my screen as a leading broodmare sire though he is very young in that role. His daughters still are producing only 3% SW's.

I once predicted that Gone West would be the #1 leading Broodmare Sire in North America.

So much for predictions as he has been having a heck of a problem holding his own, let alone lead the pack. He is a good example of top sire, doing poorly as a broodmare sire considering his opportunity.

So if Mr. Greeley follows his pattern, I also fear he will be found lacking.
