There were posts earlier this year that said that the grand old lady was doing just fine in her retirement, just the ordinary things for a horse of her age. If I hear any current news I will post it for you.

hi Terlingua

Your namesake was one VERY special racefilly...that produced one VERY special son (in Storm Cat).

Terlingua (as a broodmare) is clearly entitled to a measure of credit for helping shape the modern thoroughbred breed as we know it today.

Certainly Terlingua's sire Secretariat is also entitled to his measure of credit...if for no other reason than for siring not only Terlingua (the dam of Storm Cat) but also Weekend Surprise (the dam of A.P. Indy).

FOS, please don't forget Secrettame, dam of Gone West, and Terlingua's other son Pioneering. Although he lacks the cosmic power of Storm Cat, he has been a useful sire for the working-class horse breeder for years.

hi kimberley mine

I agree with you completely...Secrettame is certainly worthy of a measure of credit for carrying-on Secretariat's name by virtue of the wonderful son she produced...Gone West.

Pioneering is a nice stallion...but I don't credit him as particularly breed-shaping.

Arguably Storm Cat...A.P. Indy...and Gone West...are pretty darn special sires...and a measure of credit must be awarded to Secretariat and his daughters that produced each one.

Best to you.

I ask Jesus Cerillo and excerise boy who worked for Lukas for 30 years plus if he knows how Terlingua is currently doing.

Jesus is now working for Godolphin at Santa Anita.

I will try to connect with Jesus Cerillo on Friday, as Jesus was on the track when I was making my rounds.
