I have an old Vigors mare that produced Pensitiva, champion 3 YO filly in Mexico. The mare ran out over 82k herself. She is an old gal but still quite active. She had a QH filly in '05, no report in 04 (I didn't own her then), and she had TB foals the previous 3 years ('01, '02, and '03). She was checked in foal to the cover of Blumin Affair this year but slipped. She might be worth a shot. I'm asking 1K.

sstacy, assuming since you are located in Michigan you would want something in striking distance... with shipping right now running about $2.50 a mile you can get into thousands if the mare is too far.

I have a really nice mare that just came in named Brass Monkey, she is young and a maiden and Very Reasonably Priced. She is half sister to May Gator who is still building on her earnings ($480K or so at this point) and is now graded stakes placed. Monkey is very tall, maybe 16.3, I will put a stick on her tomorrow. She is very nicely put together. She has a fresh low bow on a tendon and could have been rehabbed and sent back to racing but the trainer was simply liquidating the string.

pm me if you are interested.

People are paying $2.50/loaded mile for shipping? Jeeze. I just had a mare hauled 350 miles and I paid $225. I have another mare coming next week, 425 miles, and I am paying $300. IM me if you are looking for a GOOD REASONABLE hauler.

But what sort of rig? For a big, safe, Thoroughbred 4 horse head to head, where each horse positively has its own space, colts and fillies can go in the same haul, etc., by a licensed carrier it is going about $2.50 a loaded mile. Certainly you could find someone to pack your horse into a 6'6" stock trailer with a few others, or jam into the baggage compartment on a full 10-horse slant for less... but for a 300+ mile trip I would want something better.

He has a 6 horse, slant load. My mare traveled in a box stall, big enough to handle a mare and foal, since the trip wasn't booked full. Licensed hauler. There are some good haulers out there, that don't charge an arm and a leg.

Brook Ledge charged me $500 to go from Ocala to Lexington, KY. I thought that was very reasonable. The mileage is over 700 miles, I believe. You can get on most any very good van from Ocala to Miami, which is about 300 miles, for $150 to $200.

lease broodmares? where are you

Postby lee » Sun Oct 16, 2005 3:58 pm

I'm in NJ and have a nice mare that has 2 nice foals , can send pics of foals and her. By Slew the Slewor out of Julie Loder(double x mare) by Bucksplasher. Name is Slew o jewels, on the site. Heavily muscled mare about 15.3 and correct . Winner of about $18k. Had EPM but a-ok now. I'm not going to breed this year so would consider lease arrangement. Let me know what you want and where you are if interested.
Thanks, Lee

I paid $570 for a 1260 mile trip from Colorado to Ohio from Nationwide Horse Transport. Big 6 horse rig head to head. Colt came off in great shape and on time.
