Parlo,
I'm an American living in Ireland now and lets talk about the riches of European racing. InEngland and Ireland one one business makes money off of racing-bookmakers. A crappy day at Aqueduct will generate more purse money than we do here. Also not enough racing in Ireland and horses are constantly being balloted out. I enjoy living in Europe and wouldn't change that for the world, but racing over here is not "better". Good horses are good horses anywhere, but it's your bread and butter races that make the game. You can go to the races in the states for under 5 bucks, can't do that here.

parlo---didn't mean to offend anyone with my comments, they weren't meant as negative as it probably sounded. In the states we are over run with cable and satellite options so it is easy to get any information you want on tv, 24X7. I have been staying at the best hotels in Europe and there are not many english speaking stations at all, no matter the price. i didn't bring my laptop and am resigned to internet cafes and while they are everywhere not great for watching english tv but it is better than nothing. we are just used to a lot of media in the states. i am loving italy, food, people, culture and traditions. the driving in positano, sorrento and napoli is very difficult for an american, we are not used to the scooters and the "do what ever you want" attitude of most of their drivers. i went to the rome track today to check out the options for tonight. i found someone who said they will be open tonight for the bc races so hopefully that is what happens. i was a little disappointed in the quality of the track, backstretch and racing surfaces. not what i expected at all. i will go back tomorrow for the live races. good luck to all.
best regards Brendan

Hi Brendan: I love the food in Italy, the people are happy and those narrow streets makes it a real challenge to drive.
When I was in the Army I got all sports scores on AFN the military radio station, as my base was in Stuggart Germany.
Those taxi cab drivers in Germany scared me to the max, as I wont forget those devil stunts they do to their passengers.
I like Oratorio today, my he have a good turn of foot in the final run.
Good Luck on your picks Brendan, Have a happy and profitable BC day.

Hi Brendan,
I didn’t intend to set right on Your convictions. That’s the reason why we travel and come back home happy and content – there always are some impressions and experiences You’d better avoided. But this happens to Europeans visiting the US too. Unfortunately American style of tv programs has been copied and introduced to European countries since some years – I say “unfortunately” because we got the “rubbish” first and not the good and important parts of it.
Enjoy the bc races – wherever You will be and keep Your fingers crossed for Shirocco who loves soft to heavy ground conditions.
Respectfully –parlo-
