Prayers for Lilo

Postby austique » Sat Nov 05, 2005 10:32 am

To cap off what has been my worst year in the horse business I was informed this morning that one of my weanlings Lilo at OSU's CVMR colicking. Due to her age surgery is considered highly risky so they are continuing with treatment for a few more hours to see if she improves, but she will likely be euthanized.

I have had 3 deaths already this year and two colics one resulting in surgery and one resulting in death and all three of the colics have been in different locations (one with me, one at OSU, one in KY). Good God this business can kill you sometimes.

Austique, I'm really sorry to hear about your little one. Hopefully she will improve and pull through just fine. I'll be routing for her.

It seems to have been a tough year for many breeders. As one forum member said, "you've got to be a dreamer in this business because there's so much heartache." Hang in there and keep dreaming.

Take care,
Laurie

You have had an absolutely dreadful year with your young horses. God bless.

Unfortunately Lilo's pain became too great for her to overcome and the decision was made to euthanize her this afternoon. I am just ready for this year to be over

So sorry to hear Lilo didn't make it, Austique. Here's hoping there are much brighter days ahead.

Austique,
I am SOOO sorry for your loss.. Its so tough to lose one, but jeeze you have had the worst luck ever this year.
I feel terrible for you knowing how horrible a feeling it is myself after losing the filly earlier this year. In my breeding experiences i have bred 4 babies and only ended up with 2 live weanlings. My looses were freak things too one with acute viral pneumonia (with not one symptom) and the one with the spinal cord abcess...
You will be in my prayers.. hang in there... The year is almost over thank god!
