Hello all. I have a mare who is still racing, but I am thinking of breeding her next year. I live in Oregon, so I'd like to find a stallion on the west coast, ideally one in Oregon or Washington. Obviously, since she is still racing, she is not a proven producer, so I don't know if it would make much sense to roll the dice with a top sire for her first foal (and I definitely can't afford a $50,000 stud fee).
Here is her pedigree:

However, there is a new sire in Oregon that I thought might be a possibility for her. He is an AP Indy out of a Mr Prospector dam (http://www.pedigreequery.com/indy+pacific). He is very young and is an unproven sire, as well as unraced, but his pedigree is stellar. Breeding with my mare would realize a 4x4 to Secretariat and a 3x5 to Mr Prospector.
I am brand new to the breeding game, so I would love some advice as to what those more knowledgeable than myself would think of this cross. Also, I'd love any recommendations of other sires that would be good crosses with my mare.
Thanks in advance!

Hello:
Come on over to Idaho and Breed to Tavasco. He is standing at Lawson Ranch In Meridian, Idaho for a very reasonable 2k. His 1st foals are yearlings. They all look very nice and correct. Also, Tavasco is pretty virile and has been getting just about all his mares in foal. My brothers broodmare took on the 1st cover. (If memory serves correct)
Tavasco did capture the Remington Park Futurity, and placed in The Vernon O Underwood (gradeIII). So He does have some black type behind him.
Storm Cat over Blushing Groom mares has had some postive results.
Aljabr, whos damsire was a son of Blushing Groom.
Consolidator whos damsire was a son of Blushing Groom.
Missed The Storm whos damsire was Blushing Groom.
Also, Dark Cheetah, (Happened to notice in database tonight. won 1st two outs for 70k) damsire is Mt. Livermore(Son of Blushing Groom.
Obviously Tavasco is only the grandson of Storm Cat, but heck, for 2k. it could be worth a shot.
Send me a private message if you want more details.

IMHO this mare has all the speed needed, but lacks some stamina.
So she could produce well if mated with sound stayers, and my preference is for individuals with some european or south american roots.
I may suggest LAZY LODE, if New Mexico isn't too far; or CETEWAYO, if PA isn't either.
A strange idea: KESSEM POWER! Stands in California (Maybe)

Thanks for the advice, SemparQuel. Dr Litin is a definite possibility. He actually did race three times as a three-year-old, finishing fourth twice. He was retired due to a "minor suspensory problem".
I also see that he is inbred to Turn-To. Due to the recent discussion on this board regarding the unsoundness of Turn-To progeny, along with that aforementioned suspensory problem, should I bet concerned about unsoundness if I breed my mare to Dr Litin?

I wouldn't be so worried about Turn-To linebreeding in Dr Litin, as it comes through his sire Broad Brush. Broad Brush is very much a stamina and soundness influence on the breed, and most of his best runners have had an additional strain of Turn-To with no negative influence whatsoever on their racing ability.
