Need to decide soon between one of the above for my Black Tie Affair mare. Any thoughts appreciated.

I hope you are breeding to race, because none of those stallions are commercial.

If you are breeding to race I would point you to a proven Slew line horse - for the same money you can get to Slew City Slew, Evansville Slew or Matty G. The Slew/Mr. Prospector cross has been dynamite (actually linebreeding to the mare Myrtlewood) and any Black Tie Affair mare brings more La Troienne to that carried by any Slew descendant.

Good luck.

Several crosses

Postby Keith » Fri Feb 17, 2006 11:42 am

Several crosses

Evening Attire by Black Tie Affair-Concolour by Our Native 4x4 Raise a Native

Formal Gold by Black Tie Affair-Ingoldsby by Screen King 4x5 Nashua 4x5 Bold Ruler

Ocean Terrace by Saint Ballado-Crystal River by Black Tie Affair

Judiths Wild Rush by Wild Rush-Tie Talk by Black Tie Affair 4x5 Raise a Native

I would consider these stallions

Wimbledon by Wild Rush-Strawberry Clover by Darn That Alarm winner of the Louisiana Derby defeating Borrego and Pollards Vision $4,000 Stud Fee

St Averil by Saint Ballado-Avie's Fancy by Lord Aviewinner of the Santa Catalina S. and 2nd in the Hollywood Futurity to Lion Heart $6,000 Stud Fee.

General question regarding St Averil - correct me if I'm wrong but didn't / doesn't he have really bad feet ?

of the 4 you narrowed your choices down to, I liked Prized and Fastness.
Fastness has a higher winners % but lower average earnings per runner than Prized.

Fastness is a Nasrullah line and Prized is Roberto. I know that Roberto over Mr. P is considered an A nick. I do not have any data on Never Bend over Mr. P.

good luck

I prefer Prized also but for the money I'd make the trip to KY for Slew City Slew.

Thanks Rudydee ! Something to consider if you own a mare with " questionable " feet.

Inner Harbour

Postby btcountess » Tue Feb 21, 2006 11:45 am

Did anyone look at Inner Harbour's breeding and race record? He's by Capota out of a Conquistador Cielo mare - he was very sturdy - if you go to osullivanfarm.com you can read more about him. I know he's unproven but he has alot of potential.

I really like his conformation, classy guy, and if the foal can't run you've got a great looking sport horse pontential.

Flapping arms!!! Do not buy a no guarantee season to Prized! His fertility is not so good, but he's still a lovely boy. :D
