The best sire in Maryland is Not For Love. Period. However, for just speed, I also like Lion Hearted. He has not had many that can go farther than 6 furlongs.

ameri valay

two punch

interesting to note that sewickley shows as standing in maryland this year. by star de naskra out of a dr fager mare. there is some nice speed in there though i know nothing about him as a sire.

allens prospect should you be looking at the sales...(edit: meant to refer to horses of racing age sales because, as HR LLC states, allens prospect has passed away)

In my privately devised system I get very good numbers on Outflanker, Citidancer and Meadow Monster, in no particular order. All three stallions improve their mares consistently. I think Outflanker may put a little more speed in them but I will recheck my numbers to make sure my memory is correct and then get back to you.
Not for Love is also a very good regional stallion but ouch---that stud fee is steep. He certainly isn't what I would call a bargain at 25k and I believe Citidancer is having some breeding issues but you need to check on that--my memory is dangerous.
If off track performance is important to you-- both Not For Love and Meadow Monster throw very good, if not excellent off track foals. Hope that helps.
best regards Brendan

on 10/25/05, Country Life announced that Citidancer was being pensioned because of declining fertility.

A very good friend of my family's has got the best Lion Hearted race horse yet - a champion Mary. bred 2 yo filly. He's good thus far. Dance with Ravens looks to be a good prospect, but I also like Not for Love (duh) and the Country Life group.

Hi Zinn21,

This is a VERY open ended question. What's the use of the stallion? Sire a Get-Away Horse for bank robberies?

Rockslide and Oratory are two unproven stallions that should offer some bang for the buck at sales.

Two Punch and Not For Love have been Maryland leading stallions for a long time but have hefty fees for their credentials.

Bop is an unproven sire standing in West VA who may have been the fastest of them all on the track equalling the world record for 5f in :54.3.

Regards,

Pete

Hi Zinn,

Hmmm...I've never seen a Gene Autry movie, BUT I saw the Angels play when he owned the team - does that count?

Pete:

If you were ever trapped in Macy's during the holiday season and had to listen to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer more than once, you're good to go. As tragic as it might seem, that was the start of old Gene's financial dynasty.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!
“The famous Christmas song Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer started life as a poem created by an American advertising executive called Robert May. He was requested to produce a poem that could be given away to children by the Santa Claus employed by Department Stores at Christmas! Working as an Advertising Executive Robert May had a natural flair with words and was able to compose the Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer poem which was specifically designed to appeal to children. This marketing ploy was a massive success and approximately 2.5 million Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
poems were given away in the first year of its publication! In 1949 the singer Gene Autry recorded a musical version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer composed by Johnny Marks
