Oooo...its got exhibits and everything. I would sue whoever recommended he buy shares in War Chant :lol:

This is going to be good and hopefully will make some agents and trainers think twice before they defraud clients...probably not :roll:

I know people VERY close to this case and Jackson refused to settle once he had the goods and after reading this article I can see why. Greed is a terrible thing especially when there is plenty for all to share. Why were the defendants not content with normal sound business procedure? They obviously will have plenty of time to regret such action. By the way ,for those not aware De Seroux is married to Laura who trained AZERI to horse-of-the-year honours.

I would not settle either...its not about the money...Jess Jackson has plenty of it to spare....its about corruption and the good ole boy network of private sales/bloodstock agents/auction business... He was cheated in almost every deal inlcuding the farm purchase... He is right to take them all down.

While it doesn't suprise me it still upsets me...Even a little peon like me doesn't trust the "power's that be" in this bussiness. When I'm around them and they smile that smile I feel like I should carry a fire extenguisher around my waist at all times to douse the smoke that's being blown up my a$$.....It's a shame, but rich or poor you're money goes down the drain at the same speed

Sometimes I think it's a blessing to be poor.

Don,t think ever now the greedy works by agents contractors stops, only the way dooiing buisiness will change.
The sytem is protecting itself,only now a couple of people are (timely) out of buisiness

Remember - there are 2 sides to the story! I know that Emmanuel de Seroux sent out a press release yesterday responding to all the allegations. After reading it I have no idea who is right and who is wrong. The courts are the only ones with ALL the paperwork right now. I only hope that in the end the decisions are fair and just.

I hope Jess Jackson never settles. I would love to see him take this to court and expose all the tricks--and all the players. I hope this will be a wake-up call for the industry.

If Jackson continues the case and wins, it will straighten out more agents than any legislation ever would. I hope Jackson will focus on the case and not the headlines he is receiving for promoting the currently proposed Kentucky legislation.

Legislation/laws do not change behavior unless enforced. If De Seroux is convicted and gets jail time it will put the fear of God into some agents. A new law will not have anywhere near the same effect.

Just one clarification: this is a civil action. No one will be convicted of anything except in the court of public opinion. What I hope is that Jackson doesn't settle. If he does that, his crusader persona falls apart and it will leave the impression that money will buy you out--just what a corrupt process doesn't need.

OK, I remember the original complaint cited California statutes that outlined compensatory damages, etc. Did it not also suggest criminal charges that could be pursued by the state?

By the way Sysonby, I completely agree with your sentiments regarding any out of court settlement. It would tarnish Jackson and accomplish nothing.

I don't have the complaint in front of me but it would be a rare civil complaint that could suggest criminal charges--completely different legal systems. What you are probably thinking of is civil fraud based upon the Civil Code and the Business and Professions Code violations that the lawyers probably alleged.

If I were to guess, Jackson probably contacted the San Diego District Attorney who decided to let the civil courts do their thing rather than file charges. That's not uncommon in business fraud lawsuits involving rich people and luxury items.

But then I don't know any of this for a fact--just that there is no criminal case pending and usually the criminal case comes way before the civil case.
