Does an Owen Tudor sire line still exist?
Thanks
Owen Tudor

This probably isn't any help to you at all, but my riding horse is a TB mare sired by Radishes and Mint. I was told that RaM won in allowance company, though I'm not sure if that was true. I do know he was a talented jumper on the Grand Prix level.
He traces back to Owen Tudor on his dam's side. His dam's sire is Tudor Grey by Tudor Minstrel. Tudor Minstrel is by Owen Tudor. I have to say that's the only context in which I've ever heard of Owen Tudor.
Radishes and Mint stood at stud in Georgia where he was a successful sire of hunters and jumpers. I don't whether he produced any racehorses or not.

I found a couple of links that might be useful for you.
Owen Tudor is very popular for sportshorses and jumpers apparantly.
I know one son Cadeau Genereux is a tail male.
Abernant I think is still active in the warmbloods.

Thanks for the comments.
Go For Gin was a good race horse and has Tudor on the dam side as well.
I was looking at pedigrees for another mating post and ran across Rollicking. He in turn produce a winner named King's Nest. From what I can tell King's Nest has been pensioned (obscure google page that didnt exist any longer). I wasn't aware a sire line was still out there, so I thought maybe someone knew of another. King's Nest appears to have stood in AB. Cool Spring Farm.
Just found Fayruz in Ire.

"When Albany Isle was mated to Rasper II , she produced Reagent. Rasper II was a brown colt born in 1952 in Ireland by Owen Tudor out of Red Sunset by Solario. Owen Tudor was a brown colt (a far higher percentage of brown coat color than would be expected have become top-class runners and producers) born in England by Hyperion out of Mary Tudor II by Pharos, the second foal of his dam. In three seasons, Owen Tudor won 6 races of his 13 starts. He had a fine turn of speed allied to his stamina, but he could make only one run (over about two furlongs) in a race, and he had to be waited with, however, he could sprint at the end of a distance race. Like a good athlete, Owen Tudor revealed his true merit when it really mattered. He stood 16.1 h.h. He was of Family #10. He was inbred 4x3 to Chaucer (the great broodmare sire) and lived until he was 28. The AWD of his progeny was 10.22 furlongs which when converted to American racing is still stamina- oriented. I consider him a chef de race in my Classic grouping, although many pedigree pundits consider him a split-type chef (1/2 pure speed, 1/2 pure stamina). "

The Owen Tudor line is very very old. Mummy's Pet was a rather important stallion through his sire Sing Sing. The ironical thing is we had in the past two winners of our Derby namely Wouter Raaphorst (by Mummy's Pet) and Miss Facette (by Balidar) both sires were sprinters. By the way Wouter still holds the record for the fastest Derby winner ever. You can say class is more important than stamina.
In the past also Music Boy was an important member of the family.

"Through, Tudor Minstrel, Owen Tudor's line has produced the popular Hanoverian sire, Laurie's Crusador xx (who is also licensed by the Holsteiner Verband). Celle has this to say about their popular refining stallion: "His offspring prove him to be a class of his own as a refining stallion, a Thoroughbred stallion of a kind every stallion owner is looking for but which is rarely found. His sons attract attention at licensings as well as in the dressage arenas. Last year a son of Laurie's Crusador became champion stallion at the Verden licensing--the perfectly modeled Londonderry--who inherited the nobility from his sire. In the Bundeschampionat for 5-year-old dressage horses, Le Bo... became vice champion. The Celle state stallion Longchamp has the same pedigree and reached 5th place in the finale of 6-year old dressage horses."
Not only does Laurie' s Crusader descend directly from Hyperion through Owen Tudor. He is inbred 4 x 5 to Dante, a son of Nearco out of the Dark Legend daughter, Rosy Legend. In addition to Dante, Rosy Legend produced Dark Rose II, dam of the Thoroughbred stallions Double Hitch (sire of the legendary hunter mare, Sign the Card--3 time AHSA Horse of the Year, and in the top ten for AHSA every year from 1969 to 1977) and The Hammer, sire of Sympatico (Set new indoor puissance record at 7'4" and leading jumper in NA four times), War Dress (3 time AHSA Champion Junior Hunter) and the USET jumper, Golden Gavel. Additionally, Laurie's Crusader is inbred to Bay Ronald through two crosses of Fair Trial (4 x 5), whose dam, Lady Juror, is by Son-in-Law. Add to that a cross of Abernant through his dam sire High Top and you have the scope of the influence of Bay Ronald in this one pedigree.
The fact that Hyperion' s descendants work well in the Hanoverian formula can readily be seen through yet another Hyperion son, Aristophanes, whose great grandson is Prince Thatch xx. "There are few Thoroughbreds who pass on as much elasticity and quality of movements with a very good walk as Prince Thatch xx," reports the 1998 Hanoverian Hengstkoerung catalog. "So far he has distinguished in particular through outstanding daughters and impressing riding horses which are particularly talented for dressage. This became evident again at this year's Bundeschampionat where his son Piccolino won the Bronze Medal in the competition of 6-year-old dressage horses." Last year an imported Hanoverian filly by Prince Thatch xx was named Best Young Horse at Dressage at Devon.
A third Hyperion son, Hornbeam, founded a dynasty in Hanover through his son Ecuador xx. Selected Sires of Germany 1994/95 reports that Ecuador was "a true foundation sire with an outstanding transmission. His true-to-type foals were often chestnuts with smooth action and good character. These characteristics made them easy to sell so that several Ecuador xx progeny were the top-priced lots of the Verden elite sales, e.g. Ecuyer, Epaminon. In addition to many state premium mares, Ecuador xx presented 4 approved stallions to Hanover: Eklatant, Eldorado, Egerlander, and Exquisit. He also left some outstanding dressage horses such as internationally ranked Exakt 029, the approved Oldenburg stallion Escorial, and Elevation.
Hyperion' s son Aldis Lamp was the leading sire in Belgium twelve times. In sport, Aldis Lamp sired Pedro (dam sire of Alison Firestone's Major) and Le Faquin (dam sire of the KWPN stallions Usselo and Zenith)."

The OT branch of Hyperion has declined to a very thin thread.
20 years ago it was on top, but the decendants of Hyperion have not reproduced themselves sire line wise.
The Gainsborough sire line was in 2nd place behind Phalaris, but has now been overtaken by the sire line of Fair Play.
In Euro their our 2 stallions that are carrying on the Hyperion sire line.
Efisio and Cadeaux General have been trying to carry the torch to keep the sire line alive. I one of their sons can replace their sires when the pass on, the Hyperion branch of Gainsborough will survive.
