Gold Token died in a freak accident Sunday, A P Jet is in very serious condition.

Seeing two horses fighting must be frightening and then to have them take off and then one slam into a tree - I feel very sorry for that
handler. He is going to have nightmares for a while, I think.

I hope and pray A P Jet makes it.

Oh my goodness! I have a daughter of Gold Token here and she is such a beauty. I can see how it happened though..stallions are very unpredictable, especially during breeding season.

What a great loss to all involved. :cry:

A horrible story. A real blow to the NY breeding industry, as these were two of the top stallions in the state.

I just read that on Bloodhorse.com a little while ago. How positively awful, I know all those involved must feel terrible. Poor Gold Token, and my prayers to A.P. Jet!

It sounds like the instinct took over for these macho men, and they did what stallions in the wild would have done. Thankfully no humans were trampled in the mixup. And it sounds like Gold Token was feeling great until the instant he died, so I sure can't feel sorry for him. But I sure feel sorry for the handlers and owners.

Kinda like if Arnie Palmer should drop dead at the eighteenth hole, doing what comes naturally.

Apparently AP Jet isn't looking to spectacular at the moment. Cross your fingers we don't end up losing both of them.

Madelyn, I wouldn't think breeding season would have been nearly over for them. Probably interrupts the breeding schedule for 6-8 weeks.

Since there are a lot of April and May foals that means there are a lot of May and June breedings. It probably puts a noticeable dent in the mare book (for 2 stallions anyway, one might not be so bad/hard to absorb but two at once...) Don't they breed up to the first of July at most farms? (admittedly far fewer mares than in Feb-April).
