Who sired the best & worst foals you've seen in 2006

Postby FOS » Wed May 10, 2006 9:18 am

hi guys

Although each of us might look at and/or evaluate foals differently...

...it might be interesting (and hopefully valuable) to compare some notes and mention and/or discuss the stallions that sired the best and/or worst foals (from each of our own perspectives) that we might have seen (in the flesh) in 2006.

An honest exercise might bear valuable fruit.

Thus far...the single worst foal I've seen in 2006 is by Strong Hope. The fact that it was dramatically bow-legged, and appeared to be wanting to toe in also etc, made it stand out (to my way of thinking) as the worst I've seen so far this year...the fact that it was a somewhat small foal did not help matters either. For what it's worth...this foal's dam was NOT old...offered plenty of size...was well-conformed with a very good front end, and has produced several sales horses and quality runners already.

Foals by Came Home

Postby Laro » Wed May 10, 2006 11:23 am

I have seen 3 foals by Came Home, and they were all really nice, one looked more like a quarter horse very stocky and taller than I thought they would be. They are all very athletic and moved very well. All three were 2 year olds.

FOS, you told us the worst foal you've seen this year, but what about the best?

The best foal I've seen is a filly by Dixie Union.

The worst is a filly by Touch Gold.

hi LSB

Neck and neck but clearly separating themselves from the pack, the two best foals I've seen (thus far in 2006) are...a colt by Vindication and a filly by Omega Code...

...both OUTSTANDING...exceptional individuals.

Best to you.

Best looking foal I 've seen

Postby rudydee » Wed May 10, 2006 5:19 pm

The best looking foal I've seen this year was a Ten Most Wanted colt.
Beautifully conformed, nicely muscled and a presence about it.
And boy, does he like to run around in the paddock!
That's the good news. The bad news is I don't own it.

Bringing a regional look at it from Texas the best I have seen is a Sand Ridge filly. Exceptionally conformed (for a 30 day old), great balance and a tremendous little mover. Lot of energy and presence.

Although I haven't seen one in person, I'm told by a non-partisan source that the Lion Hearts are very very nice.

I've seen a very nice Eavesdropper and I'm the lucky owner of a super Saarland filly who got stamped hard.

Worst, which I hate to say because I believe he will become a good sire was a colt by Tenpins.

Anyone else heard a Lionheart buzz?

hi patrick

You indicate that you own a "super Saarland filly" (your words)...continued good fortune with her.

Any thoughts on Game Plan as a sire? I've seen a couple...Can't say I was too impressed.

Just thought I would throw it out there...Know someone who owns a filly and although the filly was unraced he really tooted Game Plan's horn.

I haven't seen too many foals...

But these Sabona babies on our farm are spectacular, there isn't one I don't like.

(And at 24, the old man is still very fertile, preg-checked a client's mare yesterday with triplets  coming to pinch two Saturday)

I saw Iowa State's crop of Bravo Bull (Holy Bull x Brave Raj) babies and they have a really nice one out of a Gulch mare named Midnightontheoasis.

I have an ugly colt by Regal Code, but the mare isn't much to scream about either (I found her a pleasure riding home yesterday, hurray for her).
