advice for 07 - Sovereign Dancer Mare

Postby Karie » Wed Jun 28, 2006 5:28 pm

She is a STAKES PRODUCER and is half to a Stakes Placed Winner- We have not a CLUE as to what to do with this mare next year. She is due mid February in foal to a son of Unbridled. I was thinking of another Gone West son.. If we can find an affordable one. Also open to foal shares- selling the foal as a yearling. Any ideas? (Under 8-10 K FOR SURE)

Maybe Rossini (yeah I realize the Miswaki didn't earn that much  )? Hmmm...sons of Gone West are expensive aren't they? Lets see...Canadian Frontier's well bred.

Maybe go back to the Seattle Slew line since the Septieme Ciel is her best earner (albeit not blacktype). Canadian Frontier would give you Gone West over Slew. Or you could go with oldie but goodie Slew City Slew? I'm afraid not of my suggestions are very commericial  Perhaps we could get the 'Brutus back up from Chile

I may be mistaken but I believe I read on the board that they were willing to deal on Woodman. Might be worth making an inquiry.

 That made me laugh.. And I needed a good laugh.. So glad i didn't try to breed to him too- like I almost did! Black Minnaloushe seemed to work out better..

This mare has alot of options.. I like all the ideas so far. We will check into Woodman. Commercial would be a little better for this mare. Not really wanting to breed to race.

Woodman would be good and I've heard the "They're willing to deal thing" from several independent sources. Mingun? Maybe, he's bound to be a bit commercial.

Lord my brain is not working at all. I'm planning for next year as well and I'm starting to go cross-eyed.

Sovereign Dancer produced superior nicks with the BMS Dr. Fager---Flag Raiser---Gunflint---and Dr. Blum.

SD was bred to 11 BMS above that traced to the sire line of Questionnaire and produced 10 winners and 5 SW.

SD produced superior nicks with the BMS Olden Times---In Reality---Roan Rocket---Canadian Champ---Tentam---and Hagley.

SD was bred to 13 BMS that traced to the sire line of Fair Play and produced 11 winners and 2 SW.

SD produced inferior nicks with the BMS Cojak---Executioner---Quadratic---Angle Light---Al Hattab---and The Axe II.

SD was bred to 15 mares that traced to the sire line of Swynford and produced 7 winners.
Those without sin cast the first stone.

Hey Karie, have you ever considered the half to your boy? I think he's just across the border from you in Canada.

I put both of these guys on my sire watch list long before I knew Perfect Circle was yours.

By the way, how did the season go with him?

Which half? I didn't know any were standing at stud- are you thinking of
TRAJECTORY? He's a pin oak horse too I think... but not his half brother.
We ended up with 20 mares (sigh.. still getting calls) right now 15 confirmed in foal.. 1 idiot brought his mare in (late) covered her once didn't catch and he wouldn't bring her back, 1 just bred last week and 2 left to breed still. 1 was bred and 10 days later was in heat again so they bred her back to thier stallion. I think we have done well.
But of the 20 mares only 3 had foals at thier sides and the rest were all barren last year. Not fun -problem mares and a stud with 1 testicle!

You don't know of Shelter? Seeking The Gold/Missed the Storm, Stourie Brae Farm in Ontario.

*ADD* He won nearly $150,000 on the track.

I didn't have a clue that he was at stud... Didn't think ANY of his siblings were! Guess I have a trip to Canada planned now!
I thought that you meant the other horse Trajectory since he was by Gone West and someone else had gotten them confused before!

hmmm
