I saw that link and have been trying to decipher what relation the SMART STRIKE filly has with FUNNY CIDE. I pulled up the filly's dam's pedigree and FUNNY CIDE's and am unable to make heads or tails of it. Will someone please clear this up for me? I would greatly appreciate it.

Her dam's half-sister was a mare called Sweetest Chant. Sweetest Chant foaled Danzig's Beauty. Danzig's Beauty was the dam of Distorted Humor, sire of Funny Cide.

I understand Funny Cide's sire's 3rd dam is also the filly's 2nd dam. They both have GAY SONNET in their pedigree. What I mean is, is Funny Cide a half-great great uncle or....? That way the owner could say they have a _____ to Funny Cide or some sort of relation to him. Does this help? I apologize for not stating that.

The owner could say the filly is from the same family (meaning female family 9-f) as hot sire (of Funny Cide et al.) Distorted Humor. By the traditional nomenclature of TB relationships, Funny Cide & the filly are unrelated since they aren't from the same dam or female family and have little or nothing in common on the damside. But the ubiquitous Mr. P was grandsire of both, so they should share ~3% of his recombinant DNA.
