Anyone have any opinions on him as a sire as his Kids are starting to roll?

Orientate is a good outcross for those mares that have a watered down pedigree of Phalaris.

O has 11 crosses of NP and 5 crosses of Phalaris.

After checking O progeny he will have to catch fire and produce many more superior runners that earn big $$.

His BMS have been middle of the road. Lets place O on our stallion watch list and keep tabs on his progeny.

Orientate

Postby geowarrior » Wed Aug 02, 2006 10:57 pm

Not that anyone has passed judgement, but Orientate is a first crop sire, and this is still relatively early in the two year old season. I have a small share in an Orientate filly, and the stable thinks very highly of her, but she is a May filly and likely won't race until mid-August at the earliest.

I wouldn't write Orientate (or any other first crop sire) off even if his first crop is not spectacular as some sires eventually become known for their late maturing offspring, which is something that one cannot easily evaluate from the first crop.

As Louis says - watch and wait.

On another first crop topic Louis, I would be interested to know your comments on the pedigree of Officer (not on his potential as a sire, as it's equally early days for him), who if I am correct is tail male Man 'O War and has few crosses to Phalaris.

Perhaps Orientate could end up being a turf sire...

And I love the way Officer's babies run.

Orientate has a cluster of middle of the road under performing stallions.

These stallions are Bufflo Lark, Raise a Man, Ack Ack, Third Martini, T.V. Lark, Indian Hemp, Degage, Beau Gar, Batle Joined, Setember Ciel, and Skywalker.

When a stallion has a prolific amount of under performing stallions in his 5 generation pedigree, their offspring will be delt a sub par class level in racing.

O looks like he will make a nice stallion, but not on the class level to produce many GR SW.

Louis

I always find your opinions very interesting. By O I am assuming you mean Orientate and not Officer (who is indeed by Bertrando), and so I eagerly await your comments about Officer.

The filly in whom I have a minute share is called Oriental Rose by Orientate out of Rosie Dooley. Her connections say she moves extremely well, so we shall see what happens.

Forgive me I posted Officer's pedigree by mistake.

After looking at Orientate pedigree, I like his 1st and 2nd dams. O has a nice pedigree and has many crosses of NP to give his offspring soundness.

Lets wait and see what class level his offspring will perform at, that will tell us where Orientate will fit.

On paper, between the Mount Livermore and the Nodouble, Orientate almost seems to be crying out for some Nijinsky.

Hi Kimberly mine - I've just bred to Orientate, and the mare has Nijinski in the 5th. So, I'm very interested in your comment. Could you go further?
