as others mentioned on your previous post, going to the online catalogues will allow you to search by covering stallion to find mares in foal to your chosen stallion. very easy to use. nominations have not yet closed (deadlines are all in august) so you still need to wait for the catalogues to be compiled/posted.

of course, it is always possible that someone on the board has a mare they are going to nominate to the sale in foal to AA.

best of luck!

I already mentioned a mare in foal to AA for private sale on Gainesway's site.

Alex, perhaps you should start your bloodstock career by first learning how to spell, proof read and listen . Follow up those efforts with a course in reading comprehension. If you find any of the above difficult to master, ask your parents to have you evaluated for any sort of learning problem.

If you really want to be a player in this game you will need all the previous mentioned skills and tools in order to be successful.

" like top find mares with greater lines"

I'm confused, fighting jet, the mare listed at the link is herself a multiple stakes winner and G3 placed. She's produced a G2 SW of over $300k and another foal sold for $500k. I would consider that a pretty good mare. Guess, I must have low standards.

Beggars can't be choosers. If her babies have sold for those amounts, $250k for the mare isn't a bad price.

Stud fee = $40,000
Fighting Jet in foal to Afleet Alex = $250,000
Value of her foals at sales = e.g. $300,000/$500,000

The look on Sam's face if Jordan buys this mare or any other in foal to Afleet Alex .....priceless

Hey, leave me out of this. I'm not going to have any "look" on my face. I'd just be happy if y'all would stop feeding the little twit.

 Nope, too late, I officially find this too amusing to ignore. I tried. I fought. Couldn't do it. Too curious how Jordan would ever get anyone to give him $250,000 or so to buy a horse. If people want me to stop taking an interest this way, they're just gonna have to put enough other interesting threads on this message board to distract me from it. There weren't new threads on the races and results from today yet---not my fault. I even tried to create one.

Gonna go look for others now and see if we got us a conversation going.

About Fighting Jet. Is the general consensus positive or negative on Copelan mares at the end of the day? I mean they get used sure and prominently cuz plenty of folks are all about precocity which he had but do we think it marks the foal a certain way in terms of distance limitations? Would you get the mare for breed-to-race or only breed-to-sell...just in general...

Personally, I adore a good Copelan mare, especially when bred to a speedy Prospector line sire. I've won a lot of money on 2yos by a 2nd/3rd gen Prospector out of Copelan mares. Yes, there's a distance limitation, but when the majority of the races in this country seem to be carded for 6-7 furlongs, so what? If people are going to be silly enough to breed one without a good distance family behind her thinking they are going to get a Belmont winner out of her, that's their problem.

This one is going to interesting to watch. She's a SERIOUS sprinter (AWD of 5.8) throwing sprinters and from a mare who threw nothing but sprinters. However, her dam could go long and so could the dam's sibs ... And they bred her to a horse like Alex (who a lot of people think outran his pedigree)?

Interesting.

If this $250K mare isn't good enough, what exactly is he looking for here? As others pointed out, she's a SW and dam of a G3 winner. She's a perfectly good mare. This will probably be an average or above average price for a mare i/f to Afleet Alex. It sounds like he got a nice enough book, but he didn't exactly get Storm Cat or A.P. Indy type mares

I think the big question is what mare is he looking for with the pedigree and produce he wants that would in any way be cheap enough to buy? Of course we can all spot a Weekend Surprise or a Toussaud---got enough millions to buy her? The obviously well-bred, well-producing mares are going to Storm Cat/AP Indy/etc and are being put up for sale at the November thing for a lot more money than this mare. Finding a better bred mare for less money than Fighting Jet is gonna be so hard given that most people aren't stupid and know they're worth a lot of money. We're all just gonna be better off saying "go to the November sales" and bidding Jordan a bon voyage. Of course if he does find another mare we get to play pedigree analysis which's always fun even if it's a horse you're getting from CANTER for your backyard and not as a breeding prospect.
