search by horse. So long as you aren't on dial-up, you'll be fine

Sadly, calracing.com now only seems to show replays of races actually run in California. That wasn't always the case, but recently the changed the look of the site, and I think they also disabled the ability to play any out of state races. They will show up in the list, but they show up grayed out.

Well that sucks

I'd not bothered with it in a while since I'm on dial-up and could never get them to play without it skipping.

The TTM may stay in the East to run in those turf races leading up to the BC. If I hear of a change of plans I'll post it. Be Well Tin Man, we will see you soon.

Simply put, no.

Not to say it isn't theoretically possible, but in reality, no. Turf horses practically have to fly to the moon to make that happen.

The GREAT (and strictly TURF) racemare All Along(Fr) was named Horse of the Year in 1983. Arguably...what she accomplished was nothing short of incredible. Clearly others agree, as she is immortalized in racing's Hall of Fame.

Consider this...within a 6 week span she was victorious over all comers (males and females...all ages)...winning France's racing centerpiece, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-G1)...The Rothmans Int'l (Can-G1) at Woodbine...Aqueduct's G1-Turf Classic...and the G1-Washington DC International (at Laurel).

The Tin Man is a wonderful and very special racehorse, but I expect it will be difficult (although arguably not impossible) for him to thrust himself to the lead for Horse of the Year honors without accomplishing much more, while at the same time other legit candidates either underperform or fall by the wayside.

Respectfully

FOS: TTM plays the game of the Euro runners, what that means is TTM will crawl early and will be given his head turning for home. Then we shall see who is the fairest of all.

Can TTM hold off those super stars from across the pond or will those Euro TB pass TTM in the final BC run ? We will soon find out the answer to that ?

Soundness

Postby hpkingjr » Mon Aug 14, 2006 7:09 pm

Louis:
You made a comment about his soundness but he has had a long history of unsoundness. He has averaged less than 4 starts per year lifetime. It was wonderful to see him win but the rest of the horses got out jocked.

One of the quotes from the Sunday paper was:
Mandella said The Tin Man sustained bowed tendons in both front legs as a 2-year-old before he ever raced. Two years ago a wrenched ankle resulted in torn soft tissue -- which frequently is career-ending -- and kept him off 15 months.

TTM does not sound like a bastion of soundness.

For now, you can access a replay of the Million from the Breeders Cup homepage.

Wow, there's a lot of great stuff there. I had no idea. Thanks for mentioning it. And for those that don't want to search, here's the link: http://breederscup.com/videoarchive.aspx?type=recaps

The Tin man ran marvelously, but I'd say David Junior, Shirocco and/or Hurricane Run are lengths better than anything we've got.

If they send their best, I predict the Euros will dominate the Breeders' Cup Turf yet again.

You wont find 8-12 crosses of Phalaris in TTM pedigree, what you will find is a blend of speed and stamina with the right and left wing accented on stamina.

You can only get out of a TB whats bred into them, and even if TTM bowed his pedigree dictates stamina and a long lifetime racing career.

Seabiscuit bowed but had the handlers with the patience of Jobe, that made it possible for The Biscuit to return. Long live the legend of Seabiscuit.

Don't know about the others, but the plan for David Junior is to run him in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Yes, David Junior to the Classic, and Shirocco and Hurricane Run are being pointed for the Turf.

I like all of their chances.

David Junior is a fabulous horse and he's by Pleasant Tap, so the switch to dirt has a fair chance of working.

One More Possibility

I think we might be forgetting Showing Up - who knows how good he might be on the turf? He might not disgrace himself against Shirocco and Hurricane Run.

My top two handicapping angles in turf races are class and closing speed. Showing Up ran a dynamic final time, but his final 1/4 mile would not get the job done against top international competition. Plus, he'll be stretching out to 12 furlongs if he goes in the Breeders' Cup Turf.

He's a great three-yr-old, but he'll need further improvement to challenge Shirocco and Hurricane Run.

Most of those Euro runners like a softer turf, and dont like a hard turf.
What is the date for the BC, as I will check the rain clouds for the big day of the BC.
