Mid-Atlantic Sale
How is the F/T Mid Atlantic sale shaping up for October? Do they usually have some good horses/prices?
The FT-Midlantic sale has produced some real good horses, like Declan's Moon, Sarava, and Lion Heart in last few years. It's a place where there is more emphasis on the athletic individual rather than the pedigree, although the pedigrees look much stronger this year than in the past. It's also a place where many a bargain can be found, especially if you like the MD sires. Over 1,000 are catalogued this year, and unless the buyer base expands a good bit over last year, that's more horses than this market can absorb.

Timonium vs. Keeneland Crapshoot
As an owner it is very tough to decide whether to consign your yearling to Timonium where there might not be sufficient buyers or to Keeneland where your yearling might (most likely) get lost in the forest.
Last year I chose Keeneland because I had a Lear Fan filly and they don't buy "turf" horses at Timonium and the result was an RNA . This year I have a nice Grindstone filly so I opted for Timonium because I thought she might get more exposure at a samller sale. Of course at the time I nominated, I didn't know they would have over 1000 yearlings in the sale! Grindstone has done pretty well at Keeneland ($25k average) so time will tell whether I chose the right one...

Grindstone fillies can sell very well at Timonium - - there was one in the last few years that brought $50K+. She was a nice filly, but the page was nothing special, definately not as good as yours. Hopefully your filly will do even better!!
I think at Keeneland, where you land in the sale has a lot to do with how well you sell. People tell me that the first week is good, and the second week can be pretty grim unless you have a big, really exceptional individual that vets clean.
