That horse had tremendous heart and guts. He never quit. I'm so sorry to learn of his untimely passing. May it have been quick and as painless as possible. :(

Godspeed to ya, boy.

Bill Cesares statement on his life with this horse should be required reading for all horsemen........... its an open heartfelt speech from the shedrow and the daily routine of sharing your whole life with horses and how they are your family. H e is hurting right now I guarantee !! I have been there!

That really sucks. This horse showed so much heart coming back from three setbacks. May he RIP.

Got a mini-gut punch when I clicked on the link to see the Jockey Club Gold Cup nominations. Saw his name up there and got really bummed out.

Not sure if I'm the only one thinking this but didn't it seem like a sound career just wasn't in the cards for this guy? At what point are you reasonably trying to give him a chance to show potential and when is it just one chance too many? I know some amazing horses have bad things happen before they pull it together but this seemed to be a recurring theme here. I wonder if, had he been retired, if it would've impacted the soundness of offspring if he were really that fragile. Not sure I'd have looked positively at breeding to him if it were me.

I know he got sick at one point. Poor Second of June just seemed proned to misfortune. At least it wasn't a full speed tear down the track during the Gold Cup. I feel terrible for the connections who obviously believed in him.
