wierd throat sound

Postby klg1168 » Sat Oct 14, 2006 5:19 am

My gelding is making this wierd throat sound. The vet thought epiglottic entrapment. But I have researched this topic and I don't find anything that talks about a noise. Plus, he only seems to make this noise when he gets chilled, not during exercise. The first time he made this noise, it was rainy and about 60 degrees. This time, the second time, it is clear and about 40 degrees. It sounds like when a person has a bad cold and they try to clear their throat of muccus. But the horse does not have a cold and there are no other symptoms. Any ideas?

Check for a guttural pouch infection? These can be hard to diagnose but can affect them...
