Real Quiet

I see that Real Quiet has been moved from Regal Heir to Pinoaks in PA with a $1500 drop in stud fee.

If I am not mistaken, Regal Heir has dispersed all or almost all of their stallions, presumably as a result of the tragic accident earlier this year.

I believe that Real Quiet hasn't had the best of opportunities and yet has produced some very good offspring. I'd be interested in the opinion of fellow posters on Pinoaks, an organization I'm not familiar with. Clearly Real Quiet will remain a regional sire, but does this move mean he is dropping out of sight, or is Pinoaks simply trying to support him by increasing his book of mares with the lower stud fee? It seems that Real Quiet has covered very few mares over the last two published years.

I really like Real Quiet, especially the top part of his pedigree, and would like to see him get some good opportunities.

Hi, I had my mare and her three babies at Regal Heir for the past four years. I can tell you for sure that the stallions were NOT moved by the new owners. They were all managed by stallion syndicates. RQ covered a nice number of mares for his first season, especially considering all the upheavel going on there.

My mare is in foal to RQ - she is by Black Tie Affair and we are hoping for a nice foal from the match.

Dr. Solomon is the owner of Pin Oak Lane Farm and it is a fantastic operation. Your first impression is correct, he wants to get his book filled with nice mares - things are changing so fast in PA from slot growth. We even had our first sale in September and Rich Miller is having another November 25.

So my advice is - get a good pedigree analysis and if RQ is a good match, go for the bargain while you can!

Thanks for the input everyone. Griff, my recollection of the stats was that it was the number of mares covered that was low, and not the number of live foals. I can't actually recall the number of live foals and usually I'd notice if it was excessively low.

If I remember correctly the first year of low figures I read was for Real Quiet's first season in PA, and then I think the second season was the one during which the tragic accident happened to the owners of Regal Heir.

I will check, however, because as you correctly note, the two figures definitely have different meanings.

Thanks BT countess for your helpful info. I'm very pleased to hear that Real Quiet will be getting the support you describe. As well as the slots, I also hear that PA has an attractive breeding program. I am not in a position to breed at the moment, although I will be contacting Pin Oak for more information about the PA program. I wish you the very best of luck with your Real Quiet offspring.

Bred all of our mares in NY the last 2 seasons and are looking very seriously at foaling in Pa and Breeeding back to Pa stallions.The program looks very viable and since we have a farm in Pa (Western Pa.) foaling and hauling wont be a problem.
Real Quiet is a nice match to our Wavering Monarch mare and Siphon I understand is also going to Pin Oak and hes a nice cross on out Corporate Report mare....mares are currently in foal to Wheelaway and Freud

Beginning to think that Real Quiet could be a genetic goldmine if you get a filly....don't think he is the "failure" that was posted in a link to another website. Though to my mind, I'd rather see horses that race, not big sales in the ring that never do anything....so perhaps my definitions are bit different.

RQ has a monster with Midnight Lute...in KY if you don't get an KY Derby contender in your first 2 crops..stallion is shipped off...I would jump to him in a heartbeat unfortunately Quiet American and Pentelicus (my mare) are both by Fappiano and I consider the in-breeding too close

Also he's dead from laminitis.

Must be some sort of name book mess and the mare's just not in the database...I've seen horses by the same sire have the same name just the name was released and used again.

I also understand they will not only stand RQ but also Siphon...both very nice horses returning to PA in 2007!

I think Savana meant that her mare was BY Pentelicus and therefore she would not want to take her to Real Quiet as that would make the foal 2 x 3 to Fappiano. Too close.

That's ok Savana. Somebody on another thread is advertising a 'live' 2yo for sale. I think that must be worth a lot more than a dead one, don't you think?
