Carabamba

I've tried to add this mare's dam, Obamba, but the database keeps telling me that I'm not allowed. . . can someone add her?

Maybe you should add it in as "Obamba2" because there's already another Obamba in there.

Thanks for the reply, but it's not another Obamba. I was trying to add Obamba as the dam of Carabamba. This is the message I got:

Sorry, CARABAMBA has more than three offspring listed in our database. To prevent tampering with information that's already included in the database, we won't allow you to edit this horse's record. If you feel there's a mistake in the pedigree, please contact the database research group and we'll check the pedigree/information for you.

I was just trying to insert her dam? I know I have the correct horse. . . Carabamba (ARG) by Carapalida out of Obamba.

All fixed. :)

BTW, Equibase has her as a '61 foal, rather than a '60. If that sounds fishy to you, let me know and I'll look into it further.

Yes, I did try to change her year of birth from 1960 to 1961 with no luck. Not sure why it's 60', maybe just a innocent typo.

Either a typo, or a guess - horses can't be added without a birth year, so some folks will make one up when they aren't sure.

If she was foaled during the southern hemisphere foaling season of 1960, would the NorthAm registry consider her a '61 for information (if not racing) purposes?

Hmm, I did not think of the southern hemisphere factor. . .

It's possible - I wouldn't put it past them  - but every time I've checked it for a SH-foaled horse whose birthdate I can verify, the year has matched.
