lookin for thoughts... little help naming my filly?

Postby dray33 » Wed Nov 24, 2004 5:42 pm

I like when an owner takes the sire and dam, and does something clever with it. I am trying to name 2 horses RIGHT NOW, and it aint easy. I do NOT like names with run ons, like THISISMYHORSESNAME type thing.

Here is what i consider simple, elegant brilliance:

Sire: KINGMAMBO
Dam: DIXIE ACCENT

Name of the resulting filly? MUMBO JUMBO

Anyone wanna take a shot at a name for my horse? Here's one im having a hard time with :

Sire: Broad Brush
Dam: Omi
Its a filly.
(the Omi throws me off, so im trying all sorts of things like My Oh My, which i like but is taken).

Thought? Thanks...

Dray

I already put this on another thread, but "Far and Wide," perhaps?

"Far and Wide" is great, i love "Wide Glide" too. Keep em coming!
Omi presence is fantastic, except people keep calling the filly OMNI (and the bills keep coming under that name darn-it!), so im gonna pass on that one.

Thanks y'all!

Color Mi Canvas...?
(or Cover Mi Canvas)

Or, don't know if this would fly, being part of a "famous" name:
Gogh Girl
(or Mi Gogh Girl)

Paint Mi Portrait...?

Sorry... all I could think of!

If you use Broad Brush's dam Hay Patcher and Omi's sire Wild Again, you get "Roll in the Hay". Or how about Omigosh, Roller Brush, Brush Roller, or Spray, or Brush with Greatness, or Bathing Beauty.

How 'bout "Rosa Bonheur"? She was the great woman oil painter who did the painting you may remember, "The Horse Fair"--a group of horses at an auction in the 1800's (I believe) with a white horse prominently arching his neck and rearing.

Rosa Bonheur's name is again available. There are three of them in my APR since 1940. The 1949 model is an ancestress of my mare Spanish Guitar. I knew I'd seen it somewhere.

yeah, i did chiggins. There's a myomi, so it comes up in the search as taken. thats exactly what we call her around the house however. The problem is, Omi can be pronounced several ways. like oh-mee. We say Oh-my. Anyway, we were searching alot, the Dam of Omi is Flying heat, so that added fuel to the fire (pun intended). Another story we saw, Omi gave birth to Pompeii, a fantastic race horse who unfortunately lost her life carrying her first foal. So we have been trying alot of "ash" type names and volcano names. Thanks for the posts. keep em coming... really great stuff from everyone!
