A Classic
Promised Land was a gr. Spectactular Bid is gr. now or white, this could be what those ancestors produced when the gene pool came together.
Those without sin cast the first stone.

It's been photoshopped.
I think they were trying to fade out the background to make the mare look more prominent in the picture (Like Taylor Made did to the pictures of Unbridled's Song in all their ads), but it backfired and gave her that weird sabino look.
I can jack the pic around, bring out the real colours in the background and she's nothing more than your standard dapple grey mare.

LSB wrote:Not only does the black look colored on, but she also isn't a Thoroughbred mare. The ad says her "secondary breed" is warmblood.
Elsewhere in the ad it describes her as '3/4 TB'. Bid was being bred to sporthorse mares in his last several seasons at stud.
However, no mention is made of what (if any) breed organizations she's registered with, so there's no way to verify if this horse actually exists.....and in any case, it's not very nice of them to use Bid's photo there. Surely that counts as a misrepresentation!

I think the picture was scanned and that accounts for the wierd markings, sometimes when you try to scan a light picture the scanner does that. I bet they did not have a picture of her and used her sire. Bid was used more as a Sport horse sire after he failed as a successful race sire. They should have noted that this was not a her in the picture though!

Warmbloods are a little different than TBs or QHs though. You can breed a Hanoverian to a Hanoverian--and NOT get a registered Hanoverian if they can't pass inspection. OTOH, a registered TB can become a Hanoverian if they are tested and perform to a certain level. The studbook isn't closed.

But as with any breed which is exploding in popularity, there are bottom feeders out there who will breed a TB to some rejected Hannoverian and call it a "Warmblood" and then jack up the price even if the Warmblood portion of the pedigree was unregistered and worth about $500. Given the fact that Milfer allowed the mare to be bred to Spectacular Bid, this may be a wonderful horse but buyer beware. If the "Warmblood portion had passed inspection by a recognized Verband or breed association, you would have seen it in the ad as it usually represents serious money.

That's interesting, Sysonby. I wasn't sure how to regard "warmblood" designations and registrations. And considering the "hoodwinking" this owner is attempting by posting the sire as though it was a pic of the (heh - 4 yo) mare, your comment "follows" a pattern, here. I wrote the owner asking for a picture or video of the mare. See if there is any response.
Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket!
