| JFC's sire, Khartoum (bay,1884),is also the sire of Black Girl(black,1889). Black Girl is the dam of the first known and registered white Thoroughbred, WHITE CROSS (horse,1896). Black Girl's dam was Briar 2nd (bay,1885), a daughter of Planeroid (chestnut,1871) out of Nannie Anderson (black,1881), by sire, Brigadier(bay, 1869), out of an unavailable (so far) daughter of the sire, Ambassador (chestnut,1839, by Plenipotenciary out of Jenny Mills). White Cross was owned by Van Leer Kirkman, and was bred by himself along with a certain Mr. Price, in Nashville, Tennessee.
