| German records state that her dam Phantom was covered by Reveller and sent to Germany and that Miss Speed was foaled there in 1831. She raced as the unnamed "small Reveller mare" from 1834 into 1835. After a win at Schleswig in June 1835, she was given the name "Speed', which was soon converted to "Miss Speed".
