| Dam of Darcy's Woodcock, sire of Brown Farewell, from which much of Family 2 descends; Grey Woodcock, dam of Badger (winner of 3 King's Plates in 1743); Old Montague Mare, dam of the exceptional racehorse and notable sire Sedbury (winner of 4 King's Plates in 1740 and 1741); and Woodcock Thornton, through which Family 2-b descends
The GSB says Darcy's Woodcock is a son of Bustler, but as Bustler was foaled 1673c it is unlikely he was sire of a horse whose progeny date between 1716 and the early 1720s. A 1754 advert pedigree for a horse with Darcy's Woodcock in its ancestry, certified by highly reputable racehorse breeder Marmaduke Wyvill, says Darcy's Woodcock is by Old Merlin [a son of Bustler] out of Tyrconnel Barb Mare
