Dam of an unnamed mare by the White Legged Lowther Barb through which the maternal line of the family continues

Cuthbert Routh's Stud Book says she "was a black mare, and got by an Arabian horse of Mr. Curwen's". The GSB says "All that is known of this mare is from Mr Crofts' that he had himself seen her, she was the property of Mr Curwen, of Workington, and was the best bred as well as the best runner of her day in the North. She was a brood mare before running. As Mr Crofts does not say so, she was probably not a natural Barb or Arabian, but very likely from The Lowther Stud, which had for generations imported Eastern blood and bred many good horses"

mtDNA analysis has shown descendants of the Bay Bolton Mare (1728), known as Sister to Sloven, supposedly members of Family 9, do not share the same maternal line as the Vintner Mare, but rather have the same haplotype as Family 12, so all those descendants (branches 9-b and 9-c) should be reallocated to Family 12, which is itself a conflation of 4 different founder mares as shown by DNA analysis.
