The second earliest stallion (after Fairfax's Morocco Barb) with offspring recorded in the General Stud Book, the Willoughby Barb has two recorded progeny, one of which is an unnamed mare from his union with the Bolton Castle Mare, which founded Family 71, which is 3rd dam of Dyer's Dimple, placed in races in 1715 and 1716 and the sire of Sophonisba (1722 King's Plate [mares] Hambleton and 1723 King's Plates York and Newmarket)
Family 71 peters out in the 1820s. The Bolton Castle Mare is the earliest known mare with descendants in the stud book
His other unnamed daughter is the third earliest mare of Family 61 and 5th dam of Blaze (1739 King's Plates Winchester, Lewes, 1740 King's Plate Newmarket and Champion Sire 1751)
