Sentinel Star, a stakes winning son of Shamgo, was listed as recently as 2007 in the California Stallion Roster.

Sentinel Star is dead, but he has a 2008 son.

interestingly inbred to Sham's sire, Pretense.
Breeder is the last owner of Sentinel Star, Leonard Lawson of Lookout California.

For some time I have been curious on the influence of stallions whose broodmare sire was Princequillo. Mighty names like Secretariat and Sham, one can also add the less heralded Belmont Stakes winner, High Echelon. I know there are many others whose broodmare sire was Princequillo, but Sham in particular was underestimated in several areas.
There are several names, some mighty and famous, others equally mighty but not so famous, that deserve better legacy. Names like Buckpasser (famous), Dr. Fager (famous), Damascus (famous), Figonero, Quack, Riva Ridge, Kauai King, Flying Paster, Criminal Type, Lure, and Sham that its always good to witness their legacy.

It is certainly worth discussing. Like SECRETARIAT, I think SHAM was probably better known, on a very limited basis, as a broodmare sire. I can't think of any colt or filly that he sired that did well at the races. Do you know of any?
Flying Paster is another interesting sire. Nasrullah was a great sire and yet we seem to look the other way if the ancestry didn't pass through Bold Ruler.
When I get some time, I'm going to do a little more research.

The big five successful ones are: Key To The Mint, Kris S, Mill Reef and the half-brothers Secretariat and Sir Gaylord.
There are lots more which were very successful on the track but despite having every advantage in the breeding shed didn't amount to much like the full brothers Bold Lad and Successor.
