WTF? Borel / Castellano
Wow, that was kinda funky.

Thanks Zinn, I wondered what happened as I missed that race. Sounds like stakes were high and tempers flared....on the replay of the "fight", it looked like Castellano fired the first punch, and Borel was barely held back. I did not see the actual race, so have no idea what transpired to bring out the tempers. It seems that the TV folks prefer the drama to the race, as the altercation between the two is what they are showing!

From the looks of it castellano must have thought he was clear of anything on his outside. Having never ridden in a race do jockeys not take a quick look over their shoulder before moving out like that?
On another note I think everyone now knows not to ever mess with Calvin Borel. Any guy who weighs about 115lbs and needs three people to restrain him must be seriously strong.

This is driving me nuts! Probably not a far drive, but..what the heck happened? They showed the altercation again, but not the race replay. Calvin is now saying that in "30 years, this has never happened". So, what did JC do exactly?
FWIW, he may be a grandstander, but he is a helluva jockey-as evidenced by the last 3 of 4 Derby races. Not saying you are wrong LB, but he seems to be able to get the job done....

FHE JC's horse shifted slightly to the right, and the horse who was riding his rear clipped heels and almost went down - but he didnt go down nor did the jockey fall off. IMO it was NOT intentional. They said Calvin helped/bumped/grabbed the jock on the clipping heels horse to help keep him in the saddle, but I didnt see it closely enough to see that myself.
They sure had to show the brawling incident enough times tho, didnt they?

I think espn did a good job of showing the inquiry replay over and over, and the connections interview before replaying winners circle altercation.
Did he do anything you can see that compromised Tell a Kelly’s race, just looked like she didn’t fire. As far as his head not on the race, IMO good pro athletes have short memories and that is what helps them remain on top, 2 hours is a lot longer than most get to regain there composer.

You could be right Ascot, but fwiw, I am watching ESPN, and they have not shown the race itself, however the replay of the argument is getting old. Yes Ascot (again), Tell a Kelly did not look like she fired.
Jesse, thanks for the info, and you are right, professionals should not act in this manner. They just now showed the replay of the race (along with the dang fight), and it looked like it was just a fluke, so not sure why CB reacted like that. However the media does love the drama.
How about Shared Account winning at 46-1!? What a good race!

In three races over two days last week (last day of Keeneland, first day of CD) he managed to clip heels in two races and bounce a 2yo baby off the rail in another when he tried to manufacture a spot that wasn't there. And that was pretty much business as usual for Calvin. He only looks fearless because he rides by intimidation. He doesn't care how many horses he injures as long as he gets to smile for the camera in the end. Just my opion, of course.

Borel is a grandstander. You couldn't pay me enough to make me let him ride a horse of mine.
This is the flip side of the chicken dance and histrionics immediately after a race. There have been times, like after this years Derby, that I rooted for the horse to drop him when he does that.
It was a dangerous situation but Calvin came completely unglued. The humorous stuff came later when Churchill decided to escort him back and forth from races with 6 big security guards. Did they think Calvin was going to completely lose it, jump the rail and start swinging at a fan? How long is that policy going to be in effect?
