many many common ancestors ..unusual to see a pedigree with multiple northern dancer crosses aswell as extra saturation of northern dancer damline via others.. The mare Natalma is there quite a few times

I would think that fairly unlikely. I just don't believe it could hide for that length of time in such minimal horses and then crop up this loudly. The chances of the mutation being the same (this being a new mutation that happens to be identical to Halo's) I suspect would be astronomical. I bet they may find out though as I suspect one of the DW researchers will be asking for his hair and that would likely be the first thing they'd check.

It would kind of depend on if the mutation is a singular event: Confused helper RNA cuts and pastes the DNA section in backwards.
Or if it is a multi stage process. Minor mistake in coding which replicates, and creates a weak spot. Then at the "weak spot" a larger mistake is made. Which results in the full Dominant White expression.

Nothing mysterious about the very probable influences behind this white Thoroughbred. Two of the most powerful reiterated white-producing sources, namely, Northern Dancer and Halo are present here and both with a pair of doses. Not to abound on the friendly doses of Never Bend (significant too), Hyperion and Habitat. But since the first 1-2 are quite sufficiently powerful...
Thank you so much for informing about this new case. Back in 1996 this writer wrote about the appearance of new white cases thanks to the worldly influences of Northern Dancer and Halo. Reality is here knocking the door!
