Lt. Col. I.W. Gore Langton, son-in-law of late Marquis, sold him to neighbor and friend Miss Wallace at a small price in 1956.
Merryman II with his owner in the saddle won a point-to-point race in 1957.
He with his owner won two point-to-point races in 1958.
He won a hunters' chase in 1958 and sent to Neville Crump's professional training yard.
In 1959, he won Foxhunters' Chase at Liverpool and Scottish Grand National.
In 1960, he became first Scottish-bred winner of the Grand National.
In 1961, he placed second the Grand National.
