| Foundation Mare Family 62
This mare, described in the GSB as Old Woodcock Mare, is generally attributed as a daughter of Darcy's Woodcock. However, this mare was foaled 1699c, too early to be consistent or credible with the remainder of his progeny. There are number of horses named Woodcock in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, and this mare was probably sired by an earlier horse [Old] Woodcock, matching this mare's appellation in the GSB.
Family 62 lasts only until the 1740s, but produces some good horses, principally Bay Wilkinson (1724 King's Plate Newmarket); Victorious (1728 King's Plates Guildford, Lincoln); [Portmore's] Highlander (1747 King's Plate Ipswich, 1748 King's Plates Guildford, York, Lincoln, 1749 King's Plate Newmarket); and [Grisewood's] Partner, winner of 23 fair class races
