Ran as Trial
Imported into Virginia in 1751 by William Byrd III, and on 5 December 1752 was beaten by Selima in a race at Anderson's Race Ground, Gloucester. He stood from 1753 at William Byrd III's Westover stud in Charles City County, Virginia, but as all records of that stud have been lost,
Tryal is credited with very few foals. He was, however, sire of an unnamed mare which was the second earliest mare in the maternal lineage of American Families A13 and A18, which families both descend through that mare; and of Byrd's Old Calista, 5th dam of successful stallion Page's Tippoo Saib and 7th dam of the great 19th century racemare Lady Lightfoot
